The latest news is that Samsung is building its own GPU to complement the home grown Mongoose CPU cores which are already in testing. We can say that this is the only logical step after in-house SoCs have evolved as a global chipset with Exynos 7420 for 2015 flagship lineup of the company.
As per a Korean source which can out from the Chinese social site Weibo, the new GPU will make its production devices in the year 2017-18. We might be looking at the Samsung Galaxy S8/S9 before the maker actually decides to abandon the current naming scheme.
This is an intermediate step before the Korean giant gets there, and is called HAS or Heterogeneous System Architecture. As per reports, this new concept is focused on integrating the CPU and GPU on the same bus which will result in significant graphics performance boost and overall speed improvements.
