We know that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset isn’t even out yet but we are already talking about its successor. Today, the first rumor came out of China that gave some details about the Snapdragon 820 chip maker’s follow up. We can expect the new Snapdragon 830 chipset to be available in the market by the end of this year else in early 2016.
The Snapdragon 820 is built on a 14nm process but the reports suggest its successor Snapdragon 830 will be built on the 10nm process. This move from Qualcomm will surely improve the power efficiency of the chipset. However, the CPU cores will still havce a Qualcomm designed architecture with improved Kryo cores. So, the company is still not planning on returning to ARM designs anytime sooner.
According to the source, the new Snapdragon 830 chipset will be manufatcured by Samsung. It will not be released until the second half of the next year, so, the 820 will keep on shining for few more months.
