Google’s Android N Developer Preview 2 is recently rolled out. Now, there are reports that the tech giant is working on adding the pressure sensitive touchscreen support to Android N. As per the source, Google has confirmed that this will be packed into the Operating System due to the demand from OEMs, who are waiting eagerly to implement this feature into their devices.
If you get the OEMs support, this will mean that the manufacturers will not be required to do it on their own and Android N will also get better support from third party developers.
It is reported that the latest developer preview of Android N gives a hint of this ability in the new “setDynamicShortcuts(List)” feature. With this, the shortcuts available on your homescreen will show some additional functionality whenever you press on the display just like the iPhone 6S. However, this is not specific to the pressure sensitive displays and could be invoked by other methods like swipe down on devices that don’t get a pressure sensitive display.
