BlackBerry Priv updated to Android Marshmallow

BlackBerry has now released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update for its new android phone, Priv. The update is reportedly being rolled out only for the devices in US and Canada with model number (STV100-1) along with the UK and France with model number (STV100-4). For carrier devices, we can expect this update to get released by 3rd May.

It is reported that this new update brings along Marshmallow goodies such as Doze that improves the battery life of this smartphone. BlackBerry has also added additional security to this smartphone and reveals that it works with the carriers so that they can provide monthly security updates.

BlackBerry Hub is more secure with the S/MIME email signing and encryption. Also, this feature supports Slack workplace chat app which has grown its popularity in the last few years. Also, the new update brings along support for the Skype and social media network Pinterest.

As per reports, the physical keyboard on the Priv phone now supports swipe input which is a first on a hardware keyboard. The on-screen keyboard of BlackBerry’s Priv phone also does swipe input. BlackBerry phones camera now features 24 focus points for 1080 pixels resolution and 720 pixels resolution. Also, the camera has support for 120 fps slow motion mode. The autofocus of this smartphone is slightly faster in comparison but image quality is largely unchanged.
