Sony has now announced two new smartphones at the IFA event 2016 namely Xperia XZ and the returning Xperia X Compact. Sony’s Xperia XZ is a successor to the Xperia X and is a refresh version of the Xperia X Performance handset. This new handset has focused on a few important features such as performance, design, battery life and camera. Sony Xperia XZ has got a new design pattern with looped surface just like the earlier Lumia phones.
It has been reported that the new signature phone will be presented in Forest Blue color option. It will be made using a trademark material namely ALKALEIDO, it’s nothing but just a fancy word used for aluminium material which gives a nice touch and smudge resistant. As per reports, this new smartphone will get a 5.2 inch IPS display with 1080 pixels resolution. It will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset and 3GB RAM for faster processing speed.
There will be an internal storage of 32GB, which can be expanded further to 200GB via microSD card. It also gets a USB Type C as its adoption rate is already increasing in the market, while on the other hand water proofing is another market trend and will also come in this handset. Another highlight of the new Xperia XZ phone is its 23MP rear snapper with f/2.0 lens.
However, this phone might look the same on specifications but Sony developed a new IMX300 sensor for Xperia XZ and X Compact phones, which offer a new autofocus system. Its camera has been provided with features like color detection, phase detection and laser assist which are capable of measuring distance correctly and can also track the moving objects easily. This complete setup is called Triple Image sensing and will always provide accurate focus for clicking images and recording videos using this handset.
Sony Xperia XZ camera is not featured with optical image stabilization technique but the manufacturer has focused on its Steady Shot intelligent Active Mode. This feature uses 5 axis gyroscope measurements to stabilize pictures and videos. This feature is also available with the Xperia X and X Performance handsets of Sony but it was not capable of making adjustments for shift shake. However, the giant has added manual shutter speed control and has also brought back 4K video tech and sports 2x lossless zoom.
The phone has a fingerprint sensor and is provided by 2,900 mAh battery, which is another small upgrade over the Xperia X Performance phone. This smartphone is capable of Quick Charge 3.0 but it is not clear that whether it will get a quick charger. The battery of this handset sports adaptive charging which learns when you are charging your phone overnight.
Sony will launch this smartphone in early October in various color options such as Mineral Black, Forest Blue, and Platinum. This smartphone could be priced at €700.
Sony’s Xperia X Compact might share some features with the Xperia XZ phone but it should not be taken as the smaller version of the latest flagship. However, the name suggests that there will be a Compact flavor of Xperia X phone. But it might be a mini edition of Xperia X powered with Snapdragon 650 chipset.
Sony’s smartphone will feature a 4.6-inch display with 720 pixels resolution and will be powered by Snapdragon 650 chipset with a hexacore processor and 3GB RAM for faster processing speed. The Xperia X Company has a similar design as the Xperia XZ but this is not the only it has got from the flagship handset. It has a 23 MP Sony IMX300 main camera with Triple Image Sensing technology. The Steady Shot Intelligent Active Mode is provided to click a picture from five different axis.
There is a 5MP selfie camera and no 4K video. Some other features include a USB Type C port and the adaptive fast charging. It is capable of Quick Charge 2.0 but will charge the last 10% of your battery more slowly until you get up in the morning. This phone will launch by next week in various colors such as Universe Black, White and Mist Blue.
