Comparison of Huawei Honor 8 and OnePlus 3: Battle of the Equals


With its fairly appealing hardware specifications, Huawei Honor 8 is definitely a good offering to the market. Besides, OnePlus 3 also belongs to the best smartphones of these days, which can be bought at an affordable price. Let’s have a discussion on the comparison between these two latest devices:

The Honor 8 highlights the dual-camera setup on the back and a simply lucrative metal unibody design. Besides, the OnePlus 3 also features an attractive external hardware, but no extra features. Well, it comes with a larger display.


The 5.5-inch OnePlus 3 sports a full HD optic AMOLED display (1920×1080) which is brighter. The 5.2-inch Honor 8 features a smaller LCD display panel with similar resolution.

The Honor 8 features two 12MP sensors on the back with an f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP front camera with an f/2.4 aperture. Besides, the OnePlus 3 sports a 16MP camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) and an 8MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

The OnePlus 3 is powered by the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad-core processor, while Huawei is offering its own Kirin Octa-core processor.


Both phones are backed by 3,000mAh batteries. But the Honor 8 is the winner in this case as the OnePlus is powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset which is known for consuming very much power.

The Honor 8 comes with 32GB internal storage with a support of a microSD card slot, whereas the OnePlus 3 has its 64GB onboard storage which can’t be expanded. Both phones come with a USB Type-C port.
The OnePlus 3 is designed with 6GB of RAM, whereas the Honor 8 has only 4GB of RAM, although it is enough for any device.

Both phones are running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow by default with their own customised UI skins on top (Emotion UI for the Honor 8 and Oxygen OS for the OnePlus 3). Huawei has opted for a rear-facing fingerprint sensor, while the OnePlus 3 has a front facing fingerprint scanner.
