In September 2016, Apple unveiled the ultimate version of iOS 10 – based on your connection. And now it’s free for the iPhone and iPad users. So, here are some steps to get iOS 10 installed on your iPhone devices for getting the latest features:
Step-1: Supported devices
iOS 10 is available as an upgrade for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPad Pro 9.7-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad 4th Gen, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, and iPad Touch 6th Gen.
Before starting the upgrade, ensure your iPod, iPad or iPhone is totally backed up to iCloud or your PC via iTunes. If anything goes wrong, you can lose every data like contacts, documents, videos, photos and more. Backing up apps is not necessary as they can be downloaded again. Free 5GB iCloud storage won’t be sufficient for making a complete backup, so if you don’t want to backup via iTunes, you’ll need to pay for additional storage.
Step-3: Make room
If you’re on iOS 8 or 9, then update your applications as out-of-date apps don’t work in iOS 10. You need at least 1.5-2GB of storage for storing the download during the update. You must transfer images and videos to your computer or the cloud utilising Google Photos, Dropbox or another same service, then delete them you don’t require on your device freeing up space.
Step-4: Over the air update
If the new iOS available, you’ll see a pop-up notification on your screen that software update is available. Then download iOS 10. After finishing, click Install for upgrading iOS.
If you don’t like to update over the air, then connect your device to a PC running iTunes. Before connecting your device, update iTunes to the latest version. For doing this, launch iTunes, log in with your Apple ID and then click Check for Updates. After restarting your phone, it will show that it has updated to iOS 10.
