How to free more storage space on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Have you run out of space on your Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge phones, there are a few solutions you can go for to free up your storage space on Samsung handset. The best way to increase some storage space is to use Samsung Smart Manager to remove the files and applications you don’t need anymore. You can also go for installing a MicroSD card to expand the available storage.

Using Samsung Smart Manager to free up storage on the Galaxy S7 phone:

Enter the settings menu of the Galaxy S7 phone and scroll down, you will see Smart Manager tool listed. Now, tap on it. When it pops up, you will see four different sections. The top left shows battery life, bottom left shows memory used, and the bottom right shows security. But we are interested here in the top right segment, which covers storage.

Make a tap on this segment and you will see a breakdown of how much storage space you are using. Now, tap on the “delete” button in the unnecessary data section to perform a quick and simple clean up. This helps in getting rid of the cached information you don’t need and helps in freeing up to 500MB to 1GB space.

If you need more space than move to the User Date section and tap details. You can see how much space is being used by your photos, videos, apps, music and documents. If there is one particular area, taking most of your phone’s space, then tap and delete the stuff you don’t need.

Inserting a MicroSD card and moving apps to it:

Open the SIM tray on the top of the Galaxy S7 phone by inserting a tool inside the hole. Here, you will find space for a MicroSD card. A micro card can be purchased at a low price from anywhere, and this phone supports up to 200GB space expansion.

Once your MicroSD card in fitted into space, move to the settings of your handset and scroll down to storage. Now, tap “Used Space” in the storage menu, and then tap “Apps”. Here, you will find a list of installed applications which are taking up valuable space on your handset. Just tap one of the installed apps and select “Change” beside storage used, this way you can move the apps to your new MicroSD card.
