Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Details & Description
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is certainly one of the most anticipated smartphones this year, and with it its variant S9 Plus, similar in many ways. The South Korean manufacturer has a lot to prove this year since the Galaxy S8, if it was not bad, failed to create the real craze that could be expected of such a change of generation that initiated a new design. So it's up to the Galaxy S9 to prove that the borderless design fits perfectly to the smartphones of the brand ... but is it able? Here is our opinion on the question.
Look And Design
In 2017, with its Galaxy S8, Samsung has redefined what a smartphone should look like. The design was certainly not perfect, but its sleek appearance, its curved edges and its 18.5: 9 ratio made it very pleasant in hand, even more than the LG G6 released just before him.
The Galaxy S9 Plus takes the outline of the aesthetic of its predecessor, but perfected and corrects the most problematic points. Thus, the horizontal borders are slightly thinner, the fingerprint sensor is no longer eccentric and prefers to emphasize the photo modules, while the edges are slightly rounded. This makes grip a bit less pleasant, but makes the phone much more stable between clumsy fingers, improving its grip. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus have been available since 16 March and are now for sale. The device comes in three colors: black, blue and purple.
Specifications and Features
The Galaxy S9 Plus is not only bigger than the Galaxy S9. In addition to having a diagonal screen from 5.8 to 6.2 inches, it also has an additional 2 GB of RAM for a total of 6 GB and a second 12 megapixel back-end sensor that allows it to add an x2 optical zoom to the main module which already shines with its variable aperture.
The Plus variant looks just as noble as the Samsung Galaxy S9. The display impresses with colors, contrast and the laterally arched edge design. The difference to the S9: The display is a good deal bigger, measures in the diagonal 6.2 instead of 5.8 inches. So the Galaxy S9 Plus grows in size: from the dimensions of 147.7x68.7 millimeters (S9) to 158.1x73.8 millimeters (S9 Plus).
Battery Life
Galaxy S9 Plus battery specifications are identical of the Note 7. Nevertheless, a fire catastrophe is not to be expected: Laboratory photos show that the battery in the S9 Plus is additionally protected. In addition, Samsung has destroyed the Note 7 batteries and has since increased the safety standards in battery production. And just because the specifications are similar, they need not be the same batteries.
Our Verdict
If you are not, but looking for a new device, the S8 remains an attractive choice, especially since this phone is much cheaper. For users of an older device, the switch to the S9 is clearly more interesting. However, it does not diminish that the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is one of the best smartphones you can buy at the moment.
